Summer To Do List
Busy Bee
(This was taken by a friend, I love it)
I will share more as things unfold, I know I have a lot of things to catch up on too, pictures and things especially, so I shall do my best to keep up with it all virtually for those of you who wish to know (and for those of you who don't..... why are you reading this?)
Firstly, First Friday's was a success. Always a highlight of the month and always so very inspirational. Met some very cool and fun people. Also got some wonderful new pictures for From the Runway to RVA and not only that but happened to meet Brian McDaniel of Dirty Richmond! I didn't even know who he was when I asked
to take his picture and it turns out he had seen me and wanted to take mine too. Could there be a greater honor in the RVA fashion world?
It was a blast talking to him for a bit (and noticing we have the exact same glasses. Extra cool points? I think so.) and taking pictures. Keep your eye out for an upcoming interview with him featuring some of the photos I shot.
Also a very successful thrifting outing, scored all of this wonderfulness for a mere $7.
(Suspenders, mug, flannel, 2 books, purse, platter, skirt and a vest that's not pictured)
Also enjoyed going to a Parachute concert over the weekend (no pictures though, they wouldn't let me take my camera in....) and that was fun. And I now very much adore downtown Charlottesville.
Life is good. God's been doing some awesome things lately and I'm enjoying them.
I hope your weekend was just as lovely!
Guacamole
I don't cook or bake often. In fact I wish I did more because I love eating (but who doesn't?) however, I just don't know much about the ways of the kitchen with the exception of a few dishes and foods... I'll get there some day. It's a goal of mine.
(Especially after having watched Julie and Julia. Has cooking ever looked so fun and cool?)
But recently I made guacamole. All by myself. I was overly proud of this accomplishment and fully documented the entire process.
My valiant efforts were not in vain.
I used this recipe and it was very scrumptious.
Some Little Things
You know how they say it's the little things in life that make it worth while?
I think that's true a lot of the time.
Lately these have been a few of my little things:
-A friend I haven't seen in awhile texting me and saying she was listening to Twist and Shout by The Beatles and reminiscing about the time she reenacted that scene from Ferris Bueller in an attempt to embarrass me in public.
-A little almost-two-year-old-boy learning how to say my name and smiling every time he says it
-My Mom buying me a new ipod car thing because my old one is broken
-Blowing bubbles
-Playing connect four with two little children and having them argue because they each want to be on "Leney's team"
-Photobooth pictures
-A friend making me a bouquet of yellow rose flower pens because yellow roses stand for friendship
-Samoa cookies
-Rainbow cookies
-Having my Dad call me on his way home from work just to see what I'm up to
-Finding a ladybug in my room
-Hazelnut ice coffee from McDonald's.... (what? It's good....)
-Making plans to look forward to with friends
-Having someone call me from very far away, even though it's not easy, just because they miss me
-Hugs
-Looking out the window just now and seeing a hummingbird
-Handwritten notes (always the best)
-A new shirt
-My spoon ring that is my favorite and I wear all the time that used to be my Moms
-Having a favorite song come on the radio
-Someone making time out of their own very busy day to talk to me
-Knowing I am very loved and God's got a plan for everything even when (especially when) I don't.
(That's more of a big thing but I'm still counting it....)
What are some of your little things?
Good Fortune
This Weeks Wishes
1. That I could own a lovely Michael Kors watch (or at the least a decent knock off...)
2. That our Spring had stuck around just a tad bit longer. The humidity has long since made itself very much at home and made it clear it's staying for awhile.
3. That I could be in England with one of my best friends who is traveling abroad for the next few weeks. So very green with envy.
4. That Summer would stop trying to rush and get itself over with. It's already June practically.... not ok.
5. That I could be sailing. Or more specifically reading a good book while sailing.
6. That my to-do list would do itself.
7. That I hadn't just eaten quite so many rainbow cookies....
8. That I could have a jar of Nutella
9. That I could be good at motivating myself when I most need to
10. That all those pictures I need to edit would just edit themselves........
