-Went APPLE picking!
-Ate lots of apple donuts.

-Shared a favorite quote
-Cut my bangs.
-Had a fun senior portrait session! Preview here. More to come!
-Made my first ever apple pie with my friend Julie. Yep. I did all that crust weaving. Never felt like more of a woman in my life.

Virginia State Fair

It's that time of year, that only comes once a year.
The state fair!
The only place where you can eat a funnel cake for dinner, look at endless cute bunnies, ride a ferris wheel, people watch, see the biggest pumpkin of all time, pet llamas, take pictures of kangaroos, witness too much PDA, get sweet tea for seventy five cents, buy new gutters, new sheets and a vacation getaway in the same building, watch trapeze artists, have massive corn dogs actually look appealing, and watch pig races all at the same time!
(Sadly we actually missed the pig races this year, but there's always next year...)

Did you go to the fair this year?

Friday's Letters

Dear New Les Miserables Movie,
I.am.so.excited.to.see.you.

Dear Weekend,
I am so ready for you.
(Mostly because with you comes apple picking AND pumpkin picking!)

Dear 85mm Lens,
I really am in love with you.
Thanks for helping make today's photos awesome.

Dear Kelly,
Thank you for your sweet feature of me on your blog!

Dear M&M's,
You are too delicious.

Dear Joann Fabrics,
Stop having sales and tempting me with new craft supplies.
(But don't, because I love it)

Dear Common Cold,
Stay away from me.
I will not be getting sick because of you, I just won't.

How To See Without A Camera

"You put your camera around your neck in the morning, along with putting on your shoes, and there it is, an appendage of the body that shares your life with you. The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera" -Dorothea Lange

Quail Bell Magazine Fashion Show

As promised, here is a more in depth post about the fashion show I mentioned a few days ago!

Quail Bell Magazine, with the help of Selba Lounge, put on a fashion show this past weekend featuring local stores and designers such as Kay Adams, Harry Trinh, Charlie Umhau, Lisa Hutch, Need Supply, Rumors, Pieces Boutique, Books Bikes & Beyond thrift, Halcyon Vintage and... me!
I was super excited to be a part of the show and have a few of my designs featured, including a knit cowl, russian hat, and a key necklace, which some of you may remember seeing on Dirty Richmond this summer.
On that note Brian McDaniel, the creator of Dirty Richmond, actually MC'd for the night and did a great job! It was, of course, good seeing and catching up with him a bit as always.
Unfortunately I had a few technical difficulties with my camera during the actual show, so I only managed to get a few shots near the end. However, you can check out VIVA RVA's page for more photos.
It was such a fun night and I had a blast!
Thanks to everyone who helped put the show on and made it a great event.
I feel lucky to have been a part of it.
Looking forward to more in the future!

Check out the Facebook album for more photos.

An extra special thanks is due to my dear friend Julie. For putting this whole thing together!
I don't know how she did it. She's super woman.
Love you Jewels.

Life According to Instagram

This week I...

-Said hello to October! Cannot believe it's here. And a whole week of it has gone by at that.
-Went to the state fair! A favorite fall tradition. I also crossed off number 18 on this list.
-Decided that in addition to Lewis I would like a kangaroo for a pet.
-Had some of my designs featured in a fashion show! A post with more photos and details to come.
-Opened up the new and improved shop! It's been going great, thank you all for your support in this first week alone! I can't believe it's been a whole year since I started.
-Booked some photoshoots! If you're interested in one, or more details, shoot me an email (by.leney@gmail.com)
-Became a contributor for a new blog.
-Had a craft show!
-Had a lovely rainy morning at Captain Buzzy's
-Purchased the 85mm 1.8 lens. If this lens were a person, I'd marry it.
-Remembered just how perfect Norah Jones is for rainy weather

A Good Weekend

It's been a perfect weekend.
Loving life and all the blessings and good things in it right now.
Hope you're having a great one as well!

A Fashion Show

So guess what?
I got to have some of my designs be a part of a fashion show tonight!!
I know!
Super exciting right?
It's super late, and I'm still editing my photos, but in the mean time check out a few photos shot by VIVA RVA (you can see the whole album here).
See my cowl? And my hat? And, if you squint really hard, my key necklace?
And the bow I'm wearing?
Is it embarrassing how excited I am about this?
Oh well.
More coming soon!

Darling Companion

Today I wanted to share a bit of news with you guys! I recently acquired the privilege and opportunity of being a contributor for the wonderful new blog Darling Companion.
When I first started talking with Lauren, one of the blogs founders, I loved what she told me about the vision she had for the blog:
"We're all about celebrating women as Daughters of Christ. For me personally, it's about worth. Let's make these women feel loved by building a community filled with other Godly women to reaffirm who they are and how much they're loved through the gospel as well as good ol' fellowship."
How awesome is that?
So needless to say I'm really excited to be on board!
I'll be writing up a post for them once a month.
My first one has actually already been published and you can read it here. Some of you may remember reading this post from a week or two ago. I got so much positive feedback from it (thank you so much if you were one of the people who sent me an encouraging email or message!) that I thought I would go ahead and share it again with the readers of Darling Companion, in hopes it could maybe further encourage others.
So make sure you stop by their blog and give it a look!
And make sure you watch this video.
I love it.
Mostly because it has sparklers... ;)
