Kourtney

Meet Kourtney.

Kourtney and I have known each other for a few years now, but it wasn't until recently that we really started to become good friends.
And by good I mean great.
This girl has been such a huge blessing in my life and her friendship has come to mean so much to me.
I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen her without a smile on her face, she's always so joyful and full of love and encouragement.
Her heart for God is so inspiring and I'm so thankful we're friends!
Not to mention she's drop dead gorgeous.
So she's a perfect model for photoshoots.
;)

A Saturday Post

Happy Saturday.
It's quite a nice one.
It's been accompanied by sleeping in, a donut for breakfast and catching up on reading my favorite blogs.
Most of my favorite blogs are by cute married couples.
I'm sure this says something about me....
Anyway, If you need some new good reads, I suggest you check out these cuties!

A Day For A Cause

Photos: Me
Text and Design: Amber Hooks

Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
Since this is a cause that's been on my heart for the past several years it's one I occasionally talk about here on the blog. In fact if you would like to read more about it and what it's about you can check out this previous post.

I volunteer for an organization here called The Gray Haven Project which fights against human trafficking here in Richmond and I've been loving the images they've been putting together to help raise awareness lately. These are a few of the most recent ones.

If you don't know what human trafficking is...
Read about it in some of the posts I've provided above, or email me if you want to talk more about it! I'd love to answer any questions you might have about it.

If you do know what human trafficking is...
Start a conversation about it. Raise awareness. Post these photos on your Facebook and blogs and link back to The Gray Haven Project.
You never know what difference you can make by just simply sharing what you know.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.
Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." -Proverbs 31:8-9

As I sit here in a coffee shop, like a stereotypical blogger, I'm a little overwhelmed with my to do list.
However when I stop and really and truly think about things, life is good.
For so many reasons.
It's just hard to remember that sometimes in the middle of everything.

Slacking // On photo editing. I have so many to do and it's been building up and it's times like these that I wish I had four hands.
So I could edit and knit at the same time.

Reading //  I haven't been reading much/at all lately. So sad. I've been trying to read Half Broke Horses though. What I've managed to read so far is good. I think I like Jeanette Wall's first book, Glass Castle, better though.

Planning // Trips. Lots and lots of trips. Some possible, some not.
At least for right now.

Eating // Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.
Because I miraculously still have candy leftover from Christmas

Feeling // In this moment, content. I do have a lot to do, and I'm busier than ever despite the fact that I've given up a few responsibilities in attempts to make more time for myself. However right now I feel like I can get it done. This will probably change tomorrow but we're supposed to take one day at a time right?

Listening // Silence. Because I don't really appreciate it as often as I should. I try to fill it with music and voices and thoughts a lot of the time. So I'm trying to enjoy it more.

Learning // How to make time for myself. I have a hard time separating myself from my work and what I need to get done because it so often surrounds me all the time. Constantly. Wherever I go. I have a hard time not being in work mode. So I'm trying to learn what the best way for me to refresh and relax is. If you have any tips or ideas I'd be happy to hear them!

(Thanks to Amanda for this "Currently" list inspiration!)

A New York To Do List

Instagram from this trip

I've been to New York City about half a dozen times now but I can never get enough of it.
As with most of my favorite places I miss it when I'm not there, some times more than others.
Today it's a lot.
I haven't been since last March and I'm obviously planning to return again at some point this year!
Here are a few things I want to do again, or for the first time, when I go...

1. Find a macaroon shop and eat some macaroons
2. Stop by/move into Purl Soho
3. Have pizza at Lobmardi's
4. Visit The High Line
4. Find a thrift store in Brooklyn
5. Buy something silly in Chinatown
6. Visit the MoMA
7. Shoot more of the city in film

What about you?
What are some of your favorite things to do in the city that never sleeps?

A Knitters Hands

A new friend of mine needed some help with a photography project she was working on involving various hands and when she met me and learned that I knit she wanted me to model for her.
This is the result and I'm a little bit in love with it.
You can see more of her work here.
