Wyeth Baby Portraits

Sharing some portraits of one of the cutest little guys I've ever had the pleasure of photographing!
I mean really, look at that smile.
Loved spending an afternoon with Wyeth and his parents.
It always warms my heart to see parents loving on their little ones, as cheesy as that sounds, it's just the truth.
And it's definitely easy to see this guy is very loved!
Enjoy the cuteness.

Watching The World Turn Blue

"She let the sun beat down on her eyelids, opening them to see that the whole world was blue. She kept doing that for some time, knowing that even if tomorrow was the end of the world there was nothing else she’d rather be doing, than listening to his voice and watching the world turn blue."

This is from a short story a friend of mine wrote.
I love the imagery the words create. When I read them I immediately thought of this photo, taken by Meagan, and how much I love doing that too.
Just lying back, opening and closing my eyes and just watching the world turn blue.

London Calling

Alright, small confession.
These photos are from two months ago...
That's what happens when you do several photoshoots a week!
Oops.
Anyway you might recognize this gorgeous red headed beauty from this past shoot.
This is just another shoot we did, just for fun.
Because after lunch dates, when you look this fabulous, and I have my camera in my car...
Well things just happen.
The perks/downfall of being related to a photographer.
Also: I apologize for the excessive amount of hair flips in advance.

Summer Knitting (Or Lack Thereof)

Airport Knitting
Shot with 35mm film/Minolta x-700

Knitting is put unintentionally on hold come summertime.
I don't know exactly how it happens, but all of a sudden, I wake up one day (usually shortly after March hits) without the urge/need/desire to knit.
Which, for those of you who know me well, know is a pretty constant urge/need/desire.
So constant in fact that I have, more than once, contemplated knitting at stoplights...
I haven't yet.
But I've thought about it.

But anyway, overnight my instinct to constantly supply myself/others with knitted articles to keep warm vanishes instantaneously.
Much like when a bear wakes up from hibernation I suppose.
It's pretty odd.
However, I was especially obsessed busy with knitting this past fall and winter so I thought perhaps this would, against all previous history and former testaments to the contrary, be a knitting summer.
But it's not.

Granted, I've been keeping up with orders I get from the shop, which are mostly just koala bears and elephants and other various knit animals (which is to be expected. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would wear this or this in the summer heat. Especially coupled with humidity) but that's the extent of it.

A few of you have recently commented on the fact that you're excited to have found a blog written by another fellow knitter, however I thought I should just let you know that there will probably be few knitting updates here over the next few months.
But come September things will go back to normal, and all you knitters can be gratified once more in the fact that you are not alone when it comes to knitting in movie theaters or the embarrassing I-Won't-Ever-Admitt-How-Much amount of money you spend on yarn, or the moments when you drop your skein of yarn out of your bag but the knitting stays inside and you walk several city blocks before you realize what's happened.....

Regardless, I'm still a knitter.
I just take a little vacation during the summer months.
Because, once again, I don't care if it's cotton, it's still too hot to be holding a bunch of fuzzy string in your hands and lap.
Especially in Richmond's humidity.

Who You Will Be When You Can't Help It

Shot with Minolta x-700 and Kodak 100 film

"What you read when you don't have to determines who you will be when you can't help it"
 -Oscar Wilde

Getting back into reading this week.
I'm in the middle of four different books... so I'm working on being less ADD and finishing at least two before I start a new one.

What have you been reading this week?

Amber Bridal Portraits

I had so much fun shooting this beautiful ladies bridal portraits last month.
I was also honored to be the photographer for her wedding as well actually.
Which will also be up on the blog soon, so make sure you keep an eye out for that!
But in the meantime, take a look at how gorgeous this girl is.
She was equally as stunning on her wedding day.
And I have to say, all the smiles and laughter you see in the photos: 100% genuine.
I didn't have to tell her to laugh or smile once. She couldn't keep a straight face the entire time actually.
  I loved it.
After all, during your wedding festivities, isn't that how it should be?
Such an overflow of love and happiness that it just can't help but shine through 24/7?
I think so.

Breathtaking.
Isn't she?

Life According To Instagram

This week I...

-Got some rolls of film developed! I'm still smitten with them. As you can see herehere and here
-Shared my summer reading list. Make sure you share what's on yours! I love new book recommendations
-Went for a bike ride. A first in quite sometime. Funny how easily things like that come back to you
-Posted some sailing photos
-Had a lot of work to do in the forum of photoshoots and editing. And more editing. And more editing. All of which is awesome! I'm definitely thankful for the work. It pays the bills after all. But it's left little time for instagramming and other various silly updates. I've been one busy bee

The Best Remedy

Shot with Minolta x-700 and Kodak 100 film

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.” --Anne Frank

Experienced this today.
