My RVA: Around Addison

Finally getting around to posting another

My RVA

!

I've definitely been taking enough photos for these posts (I'm pretty excited about some I have for the next one), but sitting down, editing them and then putting a post together is another story.

Hopefully I can be more regular with these though because I do love showing off this city of mine and all the little bits and pieces that I stumble upon and find beautiful.

Been going to

Lamplighters

quite a bit lately.

Last time I was there I had a drink called...

 The Red Headed Step Child.

Apple cider mixed with chai tea. Pretty tasty. Though I got it iced and I think I might get it hot next time.

Across the street is a new(ish) little vintage shop that I can't believe I never noticed before called,

Addison Handmade & Vintage

. As soon as I walked in I instantly decided that if I could just live there I would be perfectly happy.

Someone I was with said: "This looks like your closet..."

So basically it's my kind of store and though I didn't get to look around too much on the first visit I will definitely be going back.

Sartorially Inclined: A Men's Knit Lookbook

So excited to announce that there are officially mens knits now available in the shop!
Many of my knits can be worn by both girls and guys but this is the first time I've designed some pieces specifically for guys just for the shop.
(Of course if some of you girls out there think they're so cute you want to wear them yourself... I mean I won't stop you...)
Doing this shoot with Meagan and Brian was so much fun!
If you want to see a few behind the scenes shots you can go here.

Stay tuned for another post featuring some new knits for you ladies coming later this week!
But without further ado, I present:

Sartorially Inclined: A Men's Knit Lookbook

Thanks to the spectacular...

For being my fabulous, first ever, male model.
The whole being glasses-twins thing made me choosing him to model my knits a no-brainer.
However, that aside, he is one of the greatest guys and I've loved getting to know him and become better friends with him over these last few years.
Thanks so much for being supportive from the beginning Brian!
And for being so stylish.
Only having to provide the knitted articles of clothing for these shoots makes my job easier.
So thanks for having a fabulous wardrobe, impending modeling career aside.

Who you long time followers have seen here on the blog many many times.
I can't ever go on enough about this girl.
She's one of my biggest supporters and I don't know what I'd do without all her help and encouragement! Taking photos for me isn't even the half of it.
You're amazing Meagan.
I owe you a lifetime supply of knits.

Bizarre Market

My knits are going to be in the Bizarre Market again this year!
So excited to have the opportunity be a part of it a second year in a row along with many other super talented Richmond artists.
So go check it out if you're in Carytown from November 29th-December 24th!
It's upstairs in Chop Suey Books, which is right across from The Byrd Theatre.
Spread the word and pass along the Facebook event as well if you like.

Can't believe Christmas is practically here!

Front Page Fame

So I've officially lost count of how many times my knits have been featured on the Etsy front page.
It actually might be more times than I'm aware of because I would have missed these last few times if someone hadn't commented on my page and let me know (Thanks Amy and Laura!)
This is just craziness.
(I mean all of this in the most in-conceited way possible. I'm honestly just in shock that it's happened once, let alone multiple times!!)
I don't think I'll ever get used to this sort of thing.

Also wanted to just give you all a heads up and say that if you're planning on ordering something from the shop for Christmas gifts for friends and family (or maybe even yourself...) you should start thinking about it now!
The cut off date for Christmas orders is going to be before December I think, depending on the amount of orders I get and what I can keep up with and ship out in time for the holidays.
I'll post the official cut off date though when I do decide. :)
But obviously ordering sooner rather than later is easier on me and it doubly makes sure your knits will arrive in time for Santa to put them under the tree!
I mean, Christmas is only 44 days away after all...

As always, thank you all for being so fabulous and supportive!
You are the bees knees.

P.s. Look out for another shop update come Monday!

Behind The Scenes

Sharing a few behind the scenes photos I took from last week's shoot for the new shop update!
Huge thanks to my friend Brian for modeling the new mens knits! I can't wait to post them next week.
Also lots of hugs and kisses for Meagan for shooting the photos for the shoot.
I have too many wonderful friends, I just can't even handle it.

Fashion Friday: A Night In The City

So maxi skirts/dresses really are my favorite.
I know I've mentioned it before but I think it just bears repeating.

These are from a while ago, a little adventure Meagan and I had one night after this shoot.
Cause, you know, we love our city so and sometimes you just need to wander around in the pretty evening light and take it in just because.

On A More Regular Basis

Photo cred: Meagan Abell

on a more regular basis I want to...

wake up with the sun
write handwritten letters
stick to the work hours I've set for myself
spend more time with little people under the age of 12
take.my.vitamins.
(why is this so hard?? I have a little daily pill box for them and everything... I mean seriously...)
clean Lewis' litter box
(TMI? sorry...)
read books
talk to people on the phone instead of texting
keep up with my accounting
shoot film
be more thankful in the moment instead of in retrospect
knit things for myself not just the shop
enjoy the outdoors without music a phone or a camera
