Come On Irene

(Yea, I did it)

So here I sit in a Barnes and Noble trying to charge my major electronics and it is a mad house. Every outlet in every corner is taken up by someone, there are children running around pell mell un restrained by parents, and about 1 in every 10 people is probably actually buying something.
Of course I can't really say anything since I'm doing the exact same thing.
They have just announced they are closing the food court entrance of the store.
Attempted crowd control?

I really feel like I can't complain about not having electricity or air conditioning or ice for drinks or anything really when there are people who are used to going without these things all the time....
But since I am blessed to have all of these things, on a fairly regular basis, it is a less than desirable transition going without them....
I am thankful not to have anything flooded or any trees on anything though.
Everything else is fine, other than the electricity and a few (read a lot) of leaves, sticks and branches in the yard.
So that's something to be thankful for.
I'm mostly over everyone freaking out about all these "natural disasters" what with the earthquake and now the hurricane. It's really not even that bad.
(I might be singing a different tune if we don't get power back soon though....)

That's all I have to say. Just was killing some time and thought I'd give you my thoughts on the subject, hypocritical and silly as they may be.

Hope everyone is staying safe!

The Great Virginia Earthquake of 2011

And the casualties of the aforementioned....

There was a 5.9 earthquake 34 miles from Richmond today. The biggest in Virginia in something like 100 years, or possibly ever. I'm tired of listening to the news about it to get it completely accurate.... Not too much harm done here, a couple knick knacks broken from falling off shelves, and some pictures needing straightening on walls but that's about it.
Thankful that everyone in RVA appears to be safe and sound!
But anyway, now I can say I lived through an earthquake.

Virginia Is For Lovers

So I was cleaning out some craft supplies recently (I have a lot...) and I gave some to a friend of mine. Popsicle sticks were included.
She in return makes me THIS.....

A necklace of the state of Virginia with a little heart in it..... Isn't it the coolest thing you've ever seen?
I couldn't believe she made it out of popsicle sticks... Talk about resourceful.

I told her she needs to make a whole bunch of states and sell them.
I mean wouldn't you buy one?
I'm kind of obsessed with it.

Today's Adventure

So there I was driving home from work, jamming out to some New Order (Temptation to be exact) when all of a sudden, in the middle of one of the lanes of the four lane road, there was a hat.
It was a blue baseball hat, flat brimmed, with a big "VA" on it.
It only took me passing through another stop light to decide that I needed to go back for it
(don't worry it was a legal U turn).
So I turned around, parked on the side of the road
(don't worry I used my flashers)
and ran across the road to retrieve it.
And now I have a new hat.
(don't worry I'm going to wash it)

Sometimes the best things in life are free.
