Bagels and Yarn and Streetcars Oh My!

So since the beginning of September I have awoken each morning with the mindset that it is Fall.
This is quickly corrected once I actually step outside and discover the 80+ degree temperature and that the pants, scarves, hats and jackets I have donned are completely unnecessary and borderline suicidal.

However just because the weather refuses to cooperate, it doesn't mean I can't still do Fall-ish things.

For instance, this morning I ate a pumpkin bagel and drank a pumpkin latte (you probably can't tell, but I like pumpkin) and went to my favorite local yarn shop, Lettuce Knit, which had one of their annual yarn sales today and bought some yarn (all of which was cotton, which is about as un fall like as you can get with yarn but that's besides the point) so that I can start knitting again in earnest.
Knitting (and crocheting) as much as I'd like it to be a year round thing for me, I can never really get too into until it starts to get cold out.

And then I went to see A Streetcar Named Desire which was showing at The Byrd (for free!)

Not that this really has anything to do with Fall.
But it was still a nice addition to the day.

I'm still really ready for Fall though.

Fall Fashion

It's September.
Which means Fall is almost here.
My favorite season.
Which also means sweaters and hats and boots and scarves and layers can be worn! Hurray!
And jeans. I never wear jeans in the Summer so I miss them.
Here are some photos I've recently found that have been getting me in the Fall mood.

(Most of these I found on tumblr. However if you have the exact source please leave a link as I've forgotten it)

Brynne

Meet Brynne.

I had the privilege of taking this beautiful girls senior pictures.
She made my job (making her look beautiful) very easy.
She's very photogenic.
I don't know why she isn't a model.
We had a lot of fun taking these, she kept me laughing the whole time, telling me different stories and naturally knowing what to do before I even directed her. I love the whimsical and fairytale kind of theme she envisioned for the latter half of our shoot.
And the traveling/wanderlust theme for the first half is also fun (possibly my most favorite).
I kind of imagined her waiting for a secret train in the woods, destination Narnia perhaps?
Check out some of the other photos on my photography page here.

P.s. As a thank you gift she gave me this blouse which Zooey Deschanel wears in 500 Days of Summer!
Obviously she knows me all to well.

P.p.s. Happy September!!!!

Come On Irene

(Yea, I did it)

So here I sit in a Barnes and Noble trying to charge my major electronics and it is a mad house. Every outlet in every corner is taken up by someone, there are children running around pell mell un restrained by parents, and about 1 in every 10 people is probably actually buying something.
Of course I can't really say anything since I'm doing the exact same thing.
They have just announced they are closing the food court entrance of the store.
Attempted crowd control?

I really feel like I can't complain about not having electricity or air conditioning or ice for drinks or anything really when there are people who are used to going without these things all the time....
But since I am blessed to have all of these things, on a fairly regular basis, it is a less than desirable transition going without them....
I am thankful not to have anything flooded or any trees on anything though.
Everything else is fine, other than the electricity and a few (read a lot) of leaves, sticks and branches in the yard.
So that's something to be thankful for.
I'm mostly over everyone freaking out about all these "natural disasters" what with the earthquake and now the hurricane. It's really not even that bad.
(I might be singing a different tune if we don't get power back soon though....)

That's all I have to say. Just was killing some time and thought I'd give you my thoughts on the subject, hypocritical and silly as they may be.

Hope everyone is staying safe!
