Kendall & Jordan

Meet Kendall and Jordan.
Aren't they gorgeous?
I've known these two sisters my whole life so they're definitely very special to me.
A couple months ago they asked me to do some portraits of them for their parents for Christmas and these are the result!
We had a lot of fun frolicking around in the woods and I didn't even have to pose them.
Such natural models.
I personally always like it when I can naturally capture people and their true personalities and situations the way they really are, as opposed to posing them. I have a hard time telling people what to do in general, so it's definitely always nice when people feel comfortable enough to just be themselves.
Even when there is a camera capturing their every move. ;)

I told you they were gorgeous.

Some Very Exciting News!

Dear readers, I have some very exciting news this morning!!

That's right! I'm headed to England in a few weeks!!
I can hardly believe it's happening.
I've been using an excessive amount of exclamation points ever since it became official.
It's something that I've been praying about for quite a while now and it finally just fell into place without me doing much of anything really. It's so awesome to see what God can do when you leave things up to Him.
I've had a desire to travel more over the past few years and so it's so exciting to see this dream become a reality! I can't wait to get over there and have some new adventures.
There will definitely be a lot of picture heavy posts about it!

And I can't wait to go find a yarn store.

Have you been to England?
What should I not miss doing while I'm there?
Any travel tips?

Friday I'm In Love

This Friday I'm in love with...

The photos Kaytee took of the Lights concert we went to with our friend David last weekend

Started this scarf the other night. I'm loving the fun stitch!

The newly discovered Krispy Kreme app for your phone!
Now at all times you can have the knowledge of where the nearest Krispy Kreme is and whether or not the hot light is on.

Naomi's Puffed Pancake recipe looks so delicious. I must try it soon!

A pretty tutorial for pin curls

Can't believe the weekend's here already.
Hope you have a good one!

Fishtail Braid Tutorial

Happy Thursday!

Today I am sharing a little hair tutorial with you all.

The Fishtail Braid to be exact.
My friend Kaytee Lauren and I had fun putting this together, we hope you enjoy it!
Make sure to let us know if you tried it and send us some pictures of your finished braids, we'd love to see.
(This is her original post from her blog which you can see here)

A while ago, A Girl Named Leney and I got together and practiced hair styles for my wedding back in July. Leney was a bridesmaid, so we were trying to find a unique look for her. We had so much fun creating a hair style together, we thought it would be neat to make a tutorial here on the blog. This is our first tutorial, hopefully there will be more, and hopefully this tutorial explains the hair style in a simple way. Today we are explaining the fish tail braid, which is super in trend right now. Sorry the white text is a little hard to see! I should have used black....

Stop Kony

Wondering what all this talk is on Twitter and Facebook about some dude named Joseph Kony?
I was.
And until this afternoon I didn't sit down to see what it was all about.

Well, even if you never watch youtube videos that people post, watch this one.

Watching this broke my heart.
This is just another form of slavery that we have to stand up and fight against.
Because it's wrong. Because it's an injustice.
Because we are called to protect and fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

You can make a difference.

Buy a bracelet here.
Buy an action kit here.
Like Invisible Children on Facebook here.
Follow them on twitter here.

Share on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest.
Anything to help spread the word.
Because there's injustice that needs to be stopped.

Make Joseph Kony famous.

My Weekend

I had a pretty good weekend.
Spent some time with family, ate lots of food, saw Lights in concert (with this guy and this girl), looked at old black and white photos (my favorite) knit a hat for myself, and all around had a pretty relaxing weekend.
Ready to hit this week full force and get some things done though.
Feeling motivated and ready to tackle my (ever growing) to-do list and be productive.
I also discovered this perfect little video (thank you Naomi!).
I am a little bit in love with it.

New Beginnings

March is a month that is bringing with it a lot of new and exciting changes.

One of them being a change in jobs.
I actually have a few different jobs, however I decided recently that it was time to move on from my main one.
It was a really big decision and a hard one to make, but I felt it was the right thing to do. I've felt for awhile now that I'm not living my life to it's fullest, as cliche as that sounds, and using the talents and passions that God's given me to their fullest potential so I decided it was time to start.

I am now looking at pursuing my Etsy shop, blogging and photography more and making it more of a full time thing and am really excited about it! They are things I have loved doing for quite some time now and I firmly believe you should do something you love with your life so I am going to take a shot at it!
I'm also hoping to become more involved in The Gray Haven Project as well as some other ministries.
Prayer for discipline, perseverance, wisdom and strength would be greatly appreciated.
It's definitely going to be a lot of work (especially being my own boss...) but I am really excited to start on the journey!

The biggest thing I think I am going to be struggling with over the next few months is finding a good routine. I am the queen of procrastination and distractions. I will spend an hour on Pinterest before I get to editing photos. So I need to come up with a sort of system that allows me to get a good chunk of work done but also allows for breaks here and there to reward myself! I also need to create a system for breaking up work on the computer with other forums of work, because I have found that staring at a computer for 10+ hours a day is headache inducing and just all around not good for you.

Do you bloggers/photographers/Etsy-ers out there have any good tips with this sort of thing?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

On a similar note, I rewarded myself the other day and bought myself a little present.
Actually, a big present.
But in light of the new changes and hard work I've been doing lately I thought I deserved it.
Or at least I'm pretending I do...

Remember this bag?
Well I finally broke down and bought it.
I'm just a little bit in love.

And finally, I want to take a moment to thank all of you who read my blog (The 242 there are of you now according to Blogger! And to the many who aren't on Blogger... Hey Grandparents!) and for your constant encouragement and support. I may not have time to respond to every comment, but I want you to know I read every single one and they mean so much to me.
Thank you for inspiring and motivating me to go after my dreams.
You all are the very dearest and best.

Here's to new beginnings.
