At Twenty One

Things I know at 21

Things are never as bad as they seem.

Loneliness is character builing.
It's also a jerk sometimes.

Tomatoes really aren't so bad after all.

If you apologize for the things you did wrong first, the other person will eventually apologize in return.
And if they don't, well, at least you were the bigger person and did all that you needed to.

Along that note, apologizing for the sake of apologizing isn't really apologizing.

Books with pages are much better than books with screens.

Coffee is amazing.

Bunnies are not as nice as they look sometimes.

The things that are most important in life are not actually things.

Adventures don't always have to be at 1 a.m. and on a bridge over a river.

Cooking is not as scary as it looks.
Most of the time.

There is such a thing as having too many high expectations.

Knitting will never get old.

When you are shopping and you are indecisive about something, don't buy it.
You will regret it.

Taco Bell is only good after 11p.m.

No matter how often you have Chinese food you will always forget that it makes you sick by the time you eat it again.

Less is more.
Especially when it comes to makeup.

It's okay to eat a whole funnel cake by yourself.
Once a year.

There are more people who have your back than you realize.

There are also more people who love you than you realize.

You aren't going to like that florescent orange dress as much as you thought you did at the store.

Whatever reason you are voluntarily giving up sleep for probably isn't as great as a good nights sleep.

You will inevitably get sick if you don't get enough sleep.

There is always someone who wants/is willing to cheer you up when you're down.

It's not the things you get or experiences you have or places you go that are important, but the people you are with.

When you feel like you have nothing, you have God.
And that's everything.

21 is going to be a great year.
I can feel it.

Last Day of Being 20

Photo Cred: Meagan Abell

So today is my last day being 20.
It's kind of bittersweet really. As is every Birthday I suppose.
My 20th year has held a lot of amazing things though.
I'm definitely more blessed than ever!
I can't wait to see what the next year holds.

In honor of today I, of course, made a little list.
(When do I not?)
The things on the list aren't too spectacular and some I even do every day, but I wanted to commemorate the occasion, like I always do, so here it is...

*20 Things To Do On My Last Day of Being 20*

1. Start my day with my devotion
2. Drink a cup of tea
3. Play with Lewis
4. Treat myself to something special
5. Take a photo with the Minolta that symbolizes being 20
6. Read a chapter of a book

10. Clean room
11. Make plans to do something fun
12. Listen to a record
13. Make a list
14. Take a walk
15. Think only happy thoughts
16. Don't worry
17. Listen to Taylor Swift really loudly in the car (be quiet, you know you do it too...)
18. Be productive
19. Relax
20. Eat a bowl of cereal

Don't Worry

It has been one busy weekend.
And it's not going to slow up anytime soon!
However, I'm being reminded to praise God for the busyness because it's all good stuff that's been going on and, if you'll excuse a cliche, if he led me to it he can lead me through it!

Anyway, today I just wanted to direct a few of you over to the DC Blog, to read this post by Amber, one of the lovely contributors for DC.
It's definitely a must read if you've been feeling a little overwhelmed or stressed lately!
A great reminder that we really have nothing to worry about when God is in control.

Have a good Monday!

Calling All Christmas Shoppers!

Christmas is just around the corner (39 days away to be exact)!
So why don't you go ahead and get a little head start on your shopping?
As of now it takes 2-3 weeks to make and ship most of the hand knits in the shop and there's already a line, so you want to get your order in now while you can!
After all, you want Santa to bring your gifts in time for Christmas don't you? :)

Naomi & Scott

Meet Naomi and Scott.

Remember them?
They've been dating for a while now and wanted some photos together to commemorate that, so I traveled up to Charlottesville to do a little photoshoot with them!
They wanted to do it at Walnut Creek Park, a place that they spend a lot of time at together. Once I saw the place for myself I understood why! It was beautiful. Especially with all the Fall leaves.
But yea, these two, they're pretty much adorable together.
But I'll let the photos speak for themselves. ;)

Episodes

I briefly mentioned over the weekend helping out with an event for The Gray Haven Project, a local organization here in Richmond that fights against human trafficking.
To talk a little more about it, it was a fundraiser which showcased art from artists all over the world. The showcase was titled "Episodes"- Illustrated Stories of Survivors of Sex Trafficking and depicted moving pieces of the artists interpretations of the before and after effects of human trafficking, with an emphasis on hope and restoration.
It was so beautifully put together and I only wished I'd had money to bid on one of the pieces!

All the proceeds from the silent auction and the ticket sales went to The Gray Haven Project and Designers Against Child Slavery, who also helped put the event together.

It was an amazing night and I loved being a part of it.
Not only that, but it was so cool seeing my photos on all of the Gray Haven's brochures and even on their new website!
I loved being able to use my God given abilities to help out such an amazing organization.
Just goes to show that everyone can make a difference and use their talents and skills for good. :)

Anyway, here are a few photos from the night!
Enjoy.
