Engagement

Doug + Mary

oh my heart, my heart, my heart.
it's so very all-the-way full, overflowing in fact, in that way that only comes around on those once-in-a-lifetime days because of a once-in-a-lifetime event.

oh what a week.
a week of laughter and tears and joy and bittersweet how-is-this-already-here's and how-is-it-already-over's.
but it's not really over, it is in fact just the beginning.
the beginning of a life long adventure.
i'm so incredibly happy for these two wonderful beings. one of whom i've been blessed enough to know for almost a decade now, and as for the other... well as my friend Hannah put it:
"he fist pumped into our lives and stole my favorite dance partner."
but there's no one i'd rather share the dance floor with and welcome into our little rag tag band of a family.
back to her? well... she's one of my persons and i'm so very happy that she's found her as-long-as-they-both-shall-live person. it was such an honor to celebrate their love and commitment with them these last few days. an honor i'm not fully able to express or explain.
i cannot wait to continue doing life with them.

happy to have broken the "once a wedding photographer never a bridesmaid" spell.
i would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Engagement | Jessi + Jason

“What I feel for you can’t be conveyed in phrasal combinations; It either screams out loud or stays painfully silent but I promise — it beats words. It beats worlds.” ― Katherine Mansfield

Looking forward to a little rainy day road trip in the morning to go document these two lovely individuals wedding.

Keep an eye out on instagram for another entry into the #weddingphotographerdiaries

Engagement | Jessie + Drew

But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me. || Pablo Neruda

The drive to the Rappahannock River is a drive I love taking and I always welcome any excuse to take it. Especially on a beautiful mid October day that allows for rolled down windows during the scenic drive.
Jessie and Drew will be getting married in the same place and on the same day these were taken, next October.
Such a sweet little detail in their love story.
A love story I can't wait to continue documenting.

Engagement | Bethany + Chris

I hope you find someone who is brave enough to enter your storm, and respects you enough to love the size of your waves. I hope you find someone who will relish the calm you can have, and who is eager to set sail on the expanse of your mind. I hope you find someone that can’t escape the love they have for you, because now they have you in their very blood, always reminding them that you are the only sea worth exploring. || T.B. LaBerge

This rainy day engagement session is one of my favorite to date I think.
My favorite weather and my favorite thing to do... Documenting two people in love.
I love people who are at a point in their story together that embodies both a certain kind of newness and yet familiarity. An almost-not-yet tension of excitement and anticipation. A story that only they truly know the telling of. Moments, conversations, experiences that are just for them and make up the history of "us".

Can't wait for your wedding day this winter Chris and Bethany, to continue the telling of this story of yours.

Smithfield Engagement | Daniel + Ally

“Appreciative love gazes and holds its breath and is silent, rejoices that such a wonder should exist if not for him, will not be wholly dejected by losing her, would rather have it so than never to have seen her at all." ― C.S. Lewis

Spent a beautiful afternoon in Windsor Castle Park in Smithfield, Virginia with this love filled couple a few weeks back.
I'd never been to Smithfield before and thuroughly enjoyed the scenic drive on the way to and from it. A nice little afternoon roadtrip . Of course we had to cross the street to the little marina across the way for a few portraits there as well. Because, well, we all know how I get with being on the water.

Wishing you all the best and all of the love Daniel and Ally. xox

“I would love to say
that you
make me
weak in the knees
but
to be quite upfront
and completely
truthful
you
make my body
forget
it has knees
at all.”

Tyler Knott Gregson

Enjoyed spending a chilly winter morning shooting some engagement photos with these two being their adorable unfiltered selves.
Oh how I love capturing people in their natural states interacting in the just-so way they do with just each other.
Everyone's love, when expressed uninhibited, looks different. Which I think is one of the most beautiful things there is.

Can't wait for these two fun loving cuties to get married this spring.
